Each year in the month of May, the Richmond Chapter of Credit Unions is proud to award two scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each.

Each scholarship is awarded to a deserving high school student who will enroll in college, technical, or trade school before December 31st. of the award year.  Scholarships are awarded primarily on the basis of merit and not on financial need.  Below are highlights of the main requirements.  Refer to our official Application for specific details.

Overview of Scholarship Requirements

Student or the Student's parent must be a member in good standing of a credit union that is a participating member of the Richmond Chapter of Credit Unions.

Student must have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.8 (grades 9-11).

Student must have demonstrated leadership skills with a strong involvement in extracurricular activities and community service organizations.

An official transcript must accompany the Application.

Student shall have demonstrated outstanding citizenship qualities that show loyalty, trustworthiness, integrity, and a genuine concern for the well-being of others.

Student must complete the Application, along with the required written or typed essay of 300 to 500 words.

Application, essay and official transcript must be received at the designated address by 5:00 p.m. (EDST).  Faxed or emailed submission are NOT acceptable and will not be considered.

The RCCU Scholarship Committee announces the scholarship recipients at its May Chapter Meeting.  The following June, we post the names of our recipients on this Chapter website.
